RAISING THE BAR: A PATH TO B’NEI MITZVAH
triangles

Few occasions are more pivotal in Judaism than becoming a B’nei Mitzvah. If you’re an adult who missed this moment of affirmation altogether, or you went through the adolescent version but want to reexperience the ritual now, Yesod provides a pathway.

After completing Year One, you’ll learn about the history and meaning of the ceremony, study the Torah and Haftarah portions to be read during your ceremony , chronicle your own experience and participate in the grand culmination: a group ceremony and celebration at Temple Emanu-El on Saturday, June 7, 2025 (extra charge will apply).

The process will involve:

Participating in an Introduction to Liturgy class that explores prayer and service structure over the course of two group sessions with officiating rabbis and cantors.

Learning to decode Hebrew and chant in four group sessions.

Rehearsing from a recording of the prayers and relevant Torah portions, or working with a private tutor (referrals available, not included in program fee).
